Hironori Otsuka (1892 – 1982) gründete 1934 die Vorläuferorganisation des Wado-Kai Verbandes, den „Dai Nippon Karate Shinko Club“. Dies wird als ursprüngliche Gründung des Wado Ryu gesehen. In den 1950er Jahren konstituierte Hironori Otsuka die „Zen Nippon Karatedo Renmei“. Am 5. Juni 1967 wurde der Name Zen Nippon Karatedo Renmei zu Wado-Kai geändert. [1] Mit der Gründung der Federation of All Japan Karetedo Organization (FAJKO, später umbenannt zu JKF) Mitte der 1960er Jahre wurde die Bezeichnung Wado Kai offiziell gebräuchlich. [2]

„JKF“ in JKF Wado-Kai steht für „Japan Karatedo Federation“. Die „World Karatedo Federation“ erkennt JKF als Hauptorgan das Karate in Japan an. JKF Wado-Kai bietet seinen Mitgliedern verschiedene Qualifikationsmöglichkeiten, so zum Beispiel JKF Wado-Kai Dan-Prüfungen und das Erlangen von Lehr- und Prüferlizenzen. JKF Wado-Kai legt den technischen Standard fest und plant Seminare, bei denen den Teilnehmern dieser Standard vermittelt wird. JKF Wado-Kai veranstaltet jedes Jahr eine nationale Meisterschaft und alle zwei Jahre die „World Wado-Kai Championships“.

Hironori Otsuka (1892 – 1982) founded the precursor organization of the Wado Kai Association, the "Dai Nippon Karate Shinko Club", in 1934. This is considered to be the original foundation of the Wado ryu. Hironori Otsuka established the "Zen Nippon Karatedo Renmei" in the 1950s. The name "Zen Nippon Karatedo Renmei" was changed to "Wado Kai" on 5^th June, 1967. [1] With the foundation of the Federation of All Japan Karetedo Organization (FAJKO, later renamed JKF) in the mid-1960s, the designation Wado Kai became official usage.[2]

"JKF" in JKF Wado Kai stands for "Japan Karate Federation". The World Karatedo Federation recognizes JKF as the main karate organization in Japan.

JKF Wado Kai offers various qualifications to its members, such as Wado Kai Dan gradings and the opportunity to acquire instructors´ and examiners´ licences. JKF Wado Kai defines the technical standard and organizes seminars where this standard is conveyed to the participants. JKF Wado Kai organizes national championships every year and, every two years, the "World Wado Kai Championships".
